Bacteria Culture in Petri Dish

The past few years have shown a resurgence of interest in recycling carbon dioxide (CO2), cialis i.e., repurposing greenhouse gases1. Nature provides us with examples of chemical, plant and bacteria based processes that consume CO2. Corynebacterium crenatun2 and Ralstonia eutropha3,4 are two promising alcohol biofuel production bacteria candidates. R. eutropha, first isolated in Germany, has been genetically modified to produce a car engine-friendly, gasoline additive from CO2 rather than its usual sugars and amino acids. The technical challenge lies in developing a system for producing liters rather than milligrams of alcohol.
